Option 1:
We have a few Research Opportunities, one of which includes free treatment for someone between the
ages of 12 and 18 who suffers from anorexia nervosa and lives with his or her parents. The individual
must also be stable enough for outpatient treatment. The study requires that the person who has anorexia
be interviewed along with their parents. This is a five year study.
The individual involved will receive 5 years of psychotherapy. He or she must fill out two questionnaires
and be assigned to one of two outpatient psychological treatments. This study may be more adequate for
those in the Chicago area since the study is based at the University of Chicago.
I chose to include this on the website since the web has a large outreach. If you are interested please
direct all questions to Jamie Peisel at 773-834-5677 or anorexia@yoda.bsd.uchicago.edu.
Option 2:
PalmPilot study is being done for those who suffer from anorexia nervosa. This study is a paid study
that does not include treatment. You will be paid $100 for each week that you carry the PalmPilot. You
may also earn a $50 bonus for responding to the PalmPilot beeps.
This is for women 18 years and older who have symptoms of anorexia nervosa. This study is being done
through the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and also through the University of Chicago. Therefore,
once again, it would be best if you live close to those areas.
